We met with the contractor/designer again last night to go over final numbers. Everything worked out to our favor and we are ordering the cabinets this week and construction starts on February 22nd!!!
I am a little nervous that we do not have everything completely picked out. We are still debating tile colors and floor. At least we are set on the cabinets/counter combination.

The search is on for the right look
Michael and I spent 6 + hours on Monday going to from tile store to tile store and still haven't found the right combination of colors for the backsplash. Why oh why do they have to have so many choices? Either we are finding colors with too many blues or too many greens! Why can't there be a basket weave combination with white, black, brown and a pop of orange in it? That would be ideal!
We haven't even gotten to floor tiles yet!
We are also still debating the cabinet color and wood species. It is between Birch / Alder / Cherry...more to come on that.

Finally settled on a contractor/designer
We have been considering two contractors/designers for the past 5 months and they were both equally good and really hard to choose one of them! It came down to proximity to our home and innovative thinking. The $$$ was about the same.
Our contractor/designer has been working diligently on the layout of the kitchen! He has put in so much time and effort already even though he wasn't sure that we would award him the job. He spent hours with us at his studio going over drawings and options and pricing! He took a trip with us to Home Depot to get ideas on cabinets, tiles, and gave us a brief lesson different wood species.
We are signing the contract as soon as we see the revised copy and the numbers...Yikes...so nervous about the whole process.
