Construction Pics - day 1

There must have been some sort of water issue in the kitchen. I am not going to miss the yellow subway tiles or that stove and don't think I will lose those two windows either.

Candice Olsen

I am a big fan of Candice Olsen and recently came across a kitchen she did for someone named Nalini!!! What are the odds of her doing a kitchen for someone with such an uncommon name! Her design is cutting edge without being too trendy! She mixes classic elements with modernism and sometimes vintage with victorian!

I am very inspired by her work and rarely disappointed by her design style. Michael & I are pretty much borrowing a few of her design ideas such as the chandelier over the kitchen sink and the wallpaper on the TV wall. She did an amazing kitchen where she used wallpaper and it was a statement piece in the kitchen.

We caught a show over the weekend where she re-designed a basement and used a fabulous carrera or calacata marble for the fire place. We are eagerly trying to find that marble design for our kitchen backsplash. The color was perfect and the look timeless.

Granite selection

We can't decide between the Persia Brown & the Equador White.
They both work well with the black leather, but now that we may do an intricate wall papered wall where the TV is going, I think we have to tone the stone piece down.
I would love to do callacata white marble, but the maintenance would be insane with that.
