We chose Brazilian soapstone for our outer countertops. It's called Barroca Soap Stone and is dark charcoal with occassional grey veins. This is a classic slab. It has to be oiled to have the charcoal color or it turns grey.

Calacatta Marble for the Island - I am still not sure how we are going to keep this from getting stains or chips
